One Reason Why I Hate Ateneo
Gahd! I'd just hope no long tests are scheduled on December 21 (Accounting, please don't be scheduled on that day). I will really have to cut on that day. I have no choice because of a late memorandum sent by an a*****e VP. If I could only wring her neck right now

Lingaw ... masuya lang ang masuya XP
The day started out slow. I was the first to arrive at the meeting place even though I was moving more slowly than usual while I was in my house. Jade and Kara followed shortly. We waited 2-3 hours for the other people to arrive (*ehem*Ian*ehem*Shai*ehem*). So we bought lechon manok, eating utensils, and drinks. When we were complete, we headed to Tinago (but we had to stop by to buy 2 additional lechon manok, rice/puso, and to pick Dahl and Ma-an at Tominobo).
The fun started at Tinago. After descending ~500 steps (according to wikipedia), we reached Tinago Falls. Since it was lunch time when we arrived (see how late we were? the call time was 8 AM), we ate the food we bought. After that, we went to the cold waters of the lagoon. We swam a little before we decided to ride the bamboo raft to reach the falls (and we rode it a few more times after that ;P). We reached the falls and felt the heavy (and a bit painful) patter of the water. We swam again. Went back to the falls area to go through it and sit under the falls. We had pictures taken (special mention to the vain people: Ian, Shai, Martin). We formed a circle. Some of us (including me) learned how to dive a little. We swam again. We finished off the leftover food. We went to the falls area. Basically, that's what we did when we were there. We acted like we were the ones who were entirely new to Tinago Falls (even if we are pure-bred Iliganons). It was really fun. The only ugly part was when we had to ascend the ~500 steps so that we could go home. I'd love to be there and do these things with my friends all over again (except for the stairs part o_O).
The last time I went to Tinago Falls was way back in grade school. I just swam in the lagoon with my cousins. It was still fun. But the fun today is definitely better.
Happenings like this make me sad of the fact that I have to return to Manila.

sluggish
Tomorrow, my HS friends are planning to go to Tinago Falls. It's been years since I went to that place. And yet I feel so lazy to go outside of my house, be with my friends & eat with them, swim & visit Tinago Falls, and have some more bonding time with them. I was looking forward to this outing a few days ago. Now that feeling has dissipated. The 8 AM call time doesn't help either. I hate waking up early. Especially during breaks.
Until now, I still can't decide whether I'll go or not.
To go or not to go?

hungry
It's great that I get to eat home-cooked meals at home. But there are no snacks available when I want to eat something at any moment. I think it's because only my father is around since my mother is somewhere in the Philippines because of her work. My father is not like my mother who always brings something edible when she gets home. So what do I do to relieve my hunger? I eat peanut butter or Milo. Good thing there's ice cream in the fridge today (and it was not my father who bought it). However, I don't like to brush my teeth and use mouthwash again. I am still hungry even if there's food available right now.
All this talk about food reminds me of the "food trip" later. I didn't even know that lots of food are available at Children's Park in Iligan. I prefer going to the city proper and eat at Zoey's and JY Dimsum.
Hungry...
*edit: maybe the unavailability of food is all for the best... after all, I still have to attend Kyna's debut

Sembreak 07
- visited (and will still visit) my high school campus
- finished season 1 of "How I Met YOur Mother"
- finished watching the Fushigi Yugi series (52 episodes!)
- watched Disturbia
- watched anything on TV (even a documentary about Atlantis O_o)
- read a tenth of Don Quixote
- swam at the local pool with high school friends
- went to the dentist for my teeth
- mindlessly surfed the internet
- successfully enlisted
- SLEEPING whenever I want to sleep
- eating home-cooked meals
Things coming up:
- Tinago Falls outing (?)
- more bonding with high school friends
- Kyna's debut
- more sleeping
- more eating
I know it's boring in Iligan. It has no malls, coffee shops or even McDonald's (but hey, we have Jollibee). Still, nothing beats the comfort of home. I don't want to return to the fast-paced life of Manila!

finally first semester ends
As much as I hated the first semester, there will be some things that I'll miss and memories that I'll reminisce (the F in LT1 of Acc20; spraining my ankle and using crutches; the quirks and the evil witch laugh of Theo teacher; lunch at Matteo steps; useless Ma22 teacher... nah! not really; roommates bonding; surprise 18th birthday party; and many more).
Well, it's finally break time for me. A well-deserved rest

someone's chat with Melton
nag-vent amputa. haha.
Setting: Kenn at the Rizal Library;
Sir Melton in a place i wouldn't care about.
Characters: Kenn Costales - the clueless student.
Sir Melton - Kenn's Math20 prof.
Kenn Costales: good afternoon sir; i'd just like to ask on what time are you available tomorrow.
Kenn Costales: i just want to see my results in my long exams for Math20.
Ray Melton: It's Hell week for both of us. Catch me when you can.
Kenn Costales: okay sir. hopefully, i'll see you in school tomorrow morning.
Ray Melton: Wait, what math class are you in?
Kenn Costales: math20- calculus for economists (Monday till Friday)
Kenn Costales: Section B.
Ray Melton: This is Raymond Melton from the States. I have hundreds of students and can't always remember who's who.
Ray Melton: I'm lucky to tell my wife from Darna. No joke.
Kenn Costales: hahaha i completely understand sir. sorry i did not identify myself properly a while ago.
Ray Melton: Math20 has to be the most tiring class you can possibly take. It would be easier to be an America Marine. Why not just be MacArthur?
Ray Melton: And I got to deal with the Math Dept, and being the Dean, and deal with my Filipina wife.
Ray Melton: I'd rather be MacArthur,.
Kenn Costales: well, you chose that path sir, and those are the things you have to face.
Kenn Costales: those are the consequences of the decisions you made in the past sir...
Ray Melton: Listen up pal, sometimes life sucks, and sometimes life sucks shit, but every once in a while life doesn't suck quite so bad. Deal with it soldier.
Ray Melton: Deal with our math class.
Kenn Costales: i am dealing with it; and i'm loving it. I love math, after all.
Ray Melton: nuff said
Kenn Costales: yes sir. good luck to the both of us! God Bless!

last blog post before finals
I will not blog after this entry (only after finals). I will not spend as much time in Multiply in preparation for the finals. Maybe I should stay at my mom's place so I won't have access to the internet.
Wow. This week went by fast. Tomorrow's make-up class in Accounting is going to be the last actual class for this semester.
And yet... I don't feel sentimental about this semester. Screw this semester! I feel this semester (so far) has the worst combination of teachers. Good thing Chinese and Sci10 are not demanding subjects. But the others? Dream on! I am supposed to have 15 units this semester. Instead, it feels more like 18 units because I sit in de Lara's Ma22 class (because Melton doesn't lecture, he just solves problems on the board). I don't even know if I'll get an A in Ma22 because Melton is very unpredictable. Theo is not an easy core subject. And sometimes, you need to BS and write in a manner the prof prefers for Theo. Accounting has its ups and downs. If it weren't for that idiotic first long test (I screwed up badly in this one), I would've gotten a better standing in this subject. I know I'm going to have my lowest QPI in this semester. I can see it coming.
On the bright side, I feel that I can maintain my QPI requirement of 2.50. So yay! I can still study here. Haha.
Finals week left. Ma22 on Wednesday (I hope it will be easy and that Melton will not falter in checking). Th121 and Acc20 on Thursday (both in Escaler Hall... how happy). I want October 12 to arrive! And then I leave for Iligan this October 14

Claudia and I were thinking of a ME version for "What do you do with a BA in English" song in Avenue Q. Can you suggest additional lines? Here is what we've come up so far:
What do you do with a BS in ME?
What is my life going to be?
Four years, three summers
And plenty of numbers
...
In the original song, what follows after is "Have earned me this useless degree". But I think "useless" is not appropriate for the ME version. Still thinking of a two-syllable adjective to use... I want to finish the "What do you do with a BS in ME" song. Care to help?

while studying for math...
[10 pts] After you have taken the two-calculus series (Ma21 and Ma22), what do you think is "calculus"?
-> is this some kind of joke? :)) I hope Melton will give a similar item. hahaha

wake me up when semester ends
Third accounting long test over. I hope the outcome will be good =/ I feel that I won't fail.
Next week: Chinese orals, Chinese written finals, Sci10 long test, Ma22 long test, submission of Sci10 project, submission of Chinese paper. Bring it on!
About two more weeks left. When will it be over??? Please just end!!!
Theo quotes
- Why do you call it "hell week"? Hell is the absence of God. I cannot imagine why you would call a week that maximizes your potential as hell. You don't even know what hell is.
- You don't call your mother as a "channel of my birth" (in reference to Jonathan suggesting that Mary be called "channel of Jesus' birth").
- When people talk about sin, they only think of it in terms of the flesh (like sex). Sin is the refusal to love.

May We Live Long and Die Out
note: I am not really serious with my modest proposal. I was just pointing out that humans should be environmentally conscious. I find it amusing that VHEMT really exists. Although I might consider being part of VHEMT (by not procreating... but I won't enforce my ideas upon others) XD

frustrating
When I first saw my score in Math midterms, it was 155/200. I looked it over, and later, I had my teacher re-check it. Tada! My score is now 177/200. He did not give me full credits on one number because I did not prove an inequality (it was about convergence/divergence). I lost 7 points because of that number. And sad thing is, I know that I did that number right (except I just didn't prove the inequality because I was in a hurry). And I had some careless mistakes. Grr. Now I know that I will have to take the math finals. I'm worried that my teacher might make the same mistakes he did in checking the midterms (by not being careful when checking). And I won't be there to correct the mistakes. Hassle. And he did not recheck my long test 1! I had to remind him to recheck it. I'm worried that my grade in Math will be affected because of carelessness not only on the part of the student, but on the teacher as well.
Theo orals went okay for me. I can't say it went great. There were some dead airs during my part. But my teacher did not say anything. Is that supposed to be good? Because she mentioned that she'll talk when we are lost or we said something wrong. I hope I have a fair grade in the orals. I really do.
I think I'm going to have my lowest QPI this semester. I just hope and pray it will be greater than 2.50 (my scholarship's grade requirement).

CERSA Open House
"Is Eman Monfort's bed as long as Nonoy Baclao's bed? How does Jobe Nkemakolam maintain his corner in order? Does Dr. Yotoko still keep a medicine cabinet in her bedroom?
See for yourself. Come to the Residence Halls' Open House 2007. Organized by Cervini-Eliazo Resident Students Association (CERSA), this year's open house entitled "Festivale: Enjoy, Indulge, Experience" will have carnival rides (caterpillar, ferris wheel and octopus) and food stalls.
From 9am till 5pm, Cervini Hall will open on Thursday, 13 Sep 2007, while Eliazo Hall will open on Friday, 14 Sep 2007. Upon registration at the lobby, make sure you are given food stubs for free snacks and/or for OH Lunch for only P20.00 at Cervini Caf. Pool use will also be free!
It's the time of the year when resident students get to invite their friends, classmates, teachers and Ateneo staff into their rooms and halls. Bisita na!"
Can anyone suggest a freak for our room? The theme for the second floor is "freak show", and each room needs to have its own freak theme. Suggestions already given: brainless geniuses, same pose girl, bearded lady... yun pa. Haha

grapes, seedless
The three events that I remembered were the following (in no particular order):
- I bought seedless grapes. The grapes that from Rustan's have labels like "Crimson seedless" or "Flaming Red seedless". However, the label of the grapes that I bought were just "grapes seedless". It didn't specify what kind of grape it was. And I think I was wondering in my dream on why the label just said that.
- Bien and Ferdie. haha. They were already in a relationship in my dream. I was with Claudia and Chase when they were walking towards us. And Ferdie was holding Bien in a way that a male gentleman escorts a lady. anlabo. haha
- Ateneo lost to La Salle. That's all I can remember.
Just so you know, I bought seedless grapes this afternoon at Rustan's ("crimson seedless"). And Ateneo won over La Salle with a score of 89-87 (which proves my dream can't predict!).

Do You Find Yourself in the Right Course?
"I shall be telling this with a sigh,
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference"
And we'll sigh for either two reasons: because of the choice that we made or because of the choice that we didn't make (and which leads us to always wonder on what would've been).
Sheesh! What an accounting long test does to you after!!! Napa-blog tuloy ako sa aking mga pagmumuni-muni. I know I can handle accounting, but I just don't feel the subject is right for me (but I am trying to love it) :/

8.5 hours and more
Shakey's dinner after. I am so full. We ordered two party pizzas. Good thing I did not order any additional items. I will be in starvation mode this week because of all the money I spent on food last week (TOSH, then World Chicken, then TOSH again, then Shakey's). I need to cut back on the expenses. I might finally make use of my stock of canned goods. Thank goodness my brother will be treating dinner at Avenetto's later. Free dinner!
OT -> Karla and Claudia: Do you have any idea where the trays from the cafeteria went (the ones used for my birthday)? Because the caf is asking P1700 from Yeye. And apparently, Yeye also left his ID with the caf as collateral.

Attention: Karyll, Kara, Ackie, Jade, Beajai, Penpen, Maria
- UP was my dream school. In fact, when I was taking the ACET, I was thinking that this test doesn't matter because I'm not even going to Ateneo.
- I have a bit of Turkish blood. Apparently, one of my ancestors was a Turkish merchant who came to the Philippines.
- My laptop has a name. It's Bullet. Haha.
- I once kicked my preschool classmate. When we got older, I told her that I kicked her. Apparently, she does not remember the incident.
- I'm a dog-lover. I don't hate cats though. I just prefer dogs.
- I don't remember this happened to me, but my brothers told me it did... I once cut myself all over with blades when I was a young child. And I was laughing. But when I saw the blood, I cried. Loser. Haha.
- I neither support Ateneo nor La Salle during the games >:)
Another Week Going to End
Athlete's Brain tomorrow. I should've been the sophomore representative for my team, but I backed out because I had violin lessons from 7-730 PM (I can't cut this one because I already paid for it... it's too expensive to be absent). Damn. It's the only contribution I could've given to my team.
Violin lessons tomorrow. My teacher texted me today that she's confined in the hospital, thus she can't be able to teach tomorrow. Cancelled.
My plans for tomorrow are ruined. Had I known earlier (way earlier) that my lessons were going to be cancelled (but hey, how can you know that your teacher will get sick?), I should've joined Athlete's Brain. Phobia's out of the picture because of my injured foot >.<
Good thing there's still the dinner date with HS friends to look forward to (Hoy Karyll! Aha man jud ta mangaon?). And maybe the swimming with Claudia, Chase and Bien (if makahabol).
Next week: 3rd Math LT and Math midterms. I'll kill Melton if he gives another killer LT.

bagyo - 3; Assunta - 1 | a very long weekend!
Remember that Nescafe commercial where a bunch of people (most likely dormers) are taking a shower and the radio announces that classes are suspended then all of them shout in jubilation and then they drink hot coffee after? [run-off sentence, i know]
Now I can relate with that experience (except with drinking coffee afterwards). A while ago, we were waiting for announcements of no classes (c'mon, who wants classes?). The atmosphere was silent. Then came sounds. Shouts. Males from Cervini were shrieking, "walang pasok!" Ah yes. What a nescafe moment.

maybe last week wasn't that sucky *edited*
Thanks to everyone who made my week not that depressing. I appreciate what you did for my birthday :)
Thank you Claudz and Karla for organizing the whole surprise (?) party (of course, with the help of my mother :P). Thank you for also singing on the event. You really missed gym for an entire week because of the planning you made.
Thank you dorm people for your presence in the party.
Thank you T2 for coming and for preparing your number.
Thank you Bien and Chase for coming and for doing your interpretative dance.
Thank you Iligan friends for coming to the party. Too bad Lita wasn't able to join us :(
Thanks to my family for also organizing the party and for always being there.

miserable week
Tuesday - no classes; studied for Accounting and Math LTs
Wednesday - studied for Accounting; got excited about having no classes on Friday... then got disappointed and eventually irritated with Cuyegkeng for making the memo for having classes on Friday
Thursday - Accounting long test: trial balance is unbalanced. feel sucky grade coming; studied for Math LT and slept 3 AM
Friday - hard Math LT: I studied Garces and Cabral LTs... but this one was bad. sure, I wrote something on each number. but I was not sure of my answers. goodbye exemptions

Personal verdict: Bad, sucky, terrible, miserable, [insert negative adjectives] week.
Hopefully, Saturday won't get any worse.

It is Over
*sigh!* I should cherish this feeling. It feels so good to escape to the world of Harry for one last time. The sad part is that it is over. My roommate said something like this, "My childhod is finally over!" I feel for you. Really.
What to expect after Harry Potter? I don't know.
For know, it's back to Accounting, Theology, and other Muggle concerns.

Yep, Another HP Entry
A dormer warned that other dormers have the tendency to shout what's going to happen in the book. Like when he was reading book 6, someone shrieked, "p****g i*a! patay si Dumbledore!" when he was only a few pages away from that part where Dumbledore dies. I swear, if any dormer spoils anything about book 7 (through any means of verbal sound), I will hunt him/her down and strangle him/her.
Why this HP fever once again? I just got back from watching the movie adaptation of Order of the Phoenix. Having no expectations at all, I was surprised that the movie turned out to be better than what I expected. Obviously, it would turn out that way since my expected score for it was 0, but the actual score increased by an increment of 1 or 2. What am I saying? Don't expect much from it. Just watch it and try to enjoy it. Or better, read the entire series once again.

July is Potter Month!
But my most anticipated countdown of all...
13 days before the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! Less than two weeks before every Harry Potter fanatic gets his/her hands on the LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES. Just the thought of the story coming to an end makes me have mixed feelings.
I can relate with this article (I guess every HP fan does):
Goodbye, Harry by Stephen King
I guess it's really hard to say goodbye to something that you grew up with. It's sad closing a chapter of your childhood. To pick a few lines from Stephen King's article:
"Think how it must be for all the kids who were 8 when Harry debuted in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, with its cartoon jacket and modest (500 copies) first edition. Those kids are now 18, and when they close the final book, they will be in some measure closing the book on their own childhoods — magic summers spent in the porch swing, or reading under the covers at camp with flashlights in hand, or listening to Jim Dale's recordings on long drives to see Grandma in Cincinnati or Uncle Bob in Wichita."
I started reading Harry Potter when I was 11 (and Harry in book 1 was also 11). I'm 17 years old now. Harry in book 7 is 17. It's quite plain to see that I'm also growing up with Harry as I am reading the series. And now all of it is coming to a close (and Harry might possibly die). And it's sad. I may not have the same experiences mentioned by King like "magic summers" in a "porch swing", "reading under the covers at camp", or "listening to Jim Dale's recordings", but I did have my moments with Harry.
Goodbyes are always hard. I guess my feelings of sadness after reading the seventh book will be stronger than the feelings I had when I finished reading Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings. Don't get me wrong. I also liked those two series. But I finished reading them in just a month or so. But Harry Potter is going to take me 7 years to finish reading the entire series. That is the main difference.
After I'll finish reading Deathly Hallows, it's back again to the real world. No more Harry Potter world to escape to. Though I can reread the series, it's just not the same when you know what's going to happen. In less than a month, I will have to bid farewell to one of my childhood companions. Being with Harry has been great, but it has to end. So long Harry, I'm going to miss you (because I know you're going to die! mwahaha).
I'm going to cap off this post with the last lines of King's article:
"But there's comfort. There are always more good stories, and now and then there are great stories. They come along if you wait for them. And here's something I believe in my heart: No story can be great without closure. There must be closure, because it's the human condition. And since that's how it is, I'll be in line with my money in my hand on July 21.
And, I must admit, sorrow in my heart."
after JTA party...
Introduction: Second Floor Corridor
Voice of someone crying is heard. I go out and see some boys carrying the crying and drunken junior. Some curious floor-mates stare at the boys bringing the drunken junior to her room.
Cria: OK, show's over. Pangbalik na mo sa inyong room.
Scene 1: Toilets
I'm in a stall and 4 juniors enter the toilets
A Junior: *toot*, mangihi ka or mosuka? (are you going to pee or are you going to puke?)
*toot*: Mangihi pud uy
A Junior: OK, ayaw biya pangihi sa imong shorts ha (OK, just don't pee in your shorts)
Scene 2: Bathroom
I'm entering the bathroom to take a bath and I see 2 juniors waiting outside a cubicle, while someone is taking a bath inside.
A Junior (to me): Sorry (ani) ha
I'm taking a bath while drunken junior is muttering stuff I don't understand. She soon leaves, along with the juniors waiting for her.
And just to tell you, this dorm party is not the worst of its kind. More (amusing) drunken incidents have happened/will happen.

rant
So naghimo ko ug rough estimate kung pila ang magasto kung magcommute by jeep. Atu ingnon magtrike padulong Mini Stop (P7), jeep padulong terminal duol UP (P7), jeep padulong Tandang Sora (P7), jeep padulong meeting area (P7?), trike padulong insertion area (P7?). So maabot ug mga P35 kung one way. Twice that, P70. Kung magtaxi daw, maabot ug P150 one way (ambot kung apil na traffic sa cost estimate). So P300 two way.
Di man siya reasonable. Unsa ang point na mao na ilahang buhok kung di man gani sila mu-apil ug formation?
Makalagot lagi ang ga-organize sa NSTP karon.

Unproductive Weekend
- Saturday
My brother invited me to watch Transformers that Saturday afternoon at Trinoma. After watching the movie, we strolled around Trinoma for a while, then went to their apartment. We stood by for a while in the apartment and then headed to Katipunan (me+Andrei+Beth+Dominic). So, the entire afternoon was not used for studying.
High school friends-who-reside-in-Dormitoryana (minus Karyll) and I had dinner in Teriyaki boy. I stayed in Dormitoryana for a while and chatted with my friends. Returned to the dorm by about 10 PM.
I tried to read chapter 3 of the accounting book (which I think I did) while watching the announcement of the winner of PBB.
- Sunday
From now on, I promise that this weekend will be the last unproductive weekend that I'll have. Unless there are zero long tests that are coming up. Hehehe

Movies I Want to Watch
- Ratatouille - A story about a kitchen boy and a rat that can cook. The story sounds weird and stupid, but it still seems cute. Besides, majority (if not all) of the reviews I've read so far are positive.
- Simpsons - D'oh! I enjoy watching episodes of The Simpsons. Hopefully, the movie will have the same twisted humor as it had in the series.
- Stardust - I just saw the trailer today. Though the book is not that great, I'd still like to watch the movie. Besides, brilliant actors like Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer are also in the movie.
- Harry Potter - I know the movie won't be as good as Lord of the Rings. But I'm a Potter fan. You can't blame me for not wanting to watch the movie.
*edit: I'm also interested in watching The Golden Compass, provided I get to read the book first (*ehem*Kara*ehem*). I'm the type who wants to read the book before watching the movie adaptation.
OT: I can't wait for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! But I have to wait after either Kara or Karla reads the book, because I'm only borrowing and not buying book 7.
Orsem quotes

Alone and being bored on a Friday...
Angeli's thoughts are drifting towards the dorm Orsem. Later, the freshmen dormers will have their Salubong. Angeli is part of the Salubong Committee. She still doesn't know if her role is that of an angel or a devil. However, she has a preference of playing the role of a devil.
Angeli is bored. She does not know what to write. So she just listens to some orchestra music. Backspace backspace backspace. Some words are not useful in creating a coherent sentence. She writes and stares at the words appearing on the screen. She added some words in the previous sentences. She stares at the screen once again.
Really now, she does not know what to add. So she just stops this blog post after this period.

Yet another orsem post
- New-found friends: Ayet, KC, Moy, Mon, Joseph, Rayche (sp?), Gin, Cy, and some more people whose names/nicknames I forgot :-S The LOG experience is fun even if it can be sometimes messy.
- The bands playing during Orsem night are just taken for granted. Imagine having the likes of Kjwan, Dictalicense, Chicosci, Hale, and Spongecola playing for free. If just one of those bands were in Iligan, people would gladly pay just to hear them play live.
- Not all Ateneans are smart... as one could observe during waste segregation.
- Basa-an session is the best! The more Orsem volunteers you know, the wetter you are. It's fun to pour water to your friends :D
- I hate Cafe Azul because the food they serve have lots of sauce in it... argh! the horror of segregating leftover waste.
- I want to volunteer again for Orsem... but not for LOG CovCourts. But if I have the chance to go home, I'll go home. Home > Orsem
- Rica Paralejo. It's weird having a celebrity entering Ateneo as a freshman. You see her being with people much younger than her, and participating the Orsem activities just like any other freshman. And her face could still pass off as a college student (which she is now)!
- For the freshies, it's a whole new world they'll have to face. Orsem (or the honeymoon period) is over. Actual college life is drawing very near. Good luck to them.
- It's not actually connected to the ADMU Orsem, but I just want to write this down. I can't wait for the dorm orsem/initiation! I want to see the dorm freshmen wear their costumes and make fools of themselves for an entire week. Mwahaha!

First Day of Orsem
Yours truly also volunteered for LOG CovCourts. The experience in this day alone makes a former IDS student remember his/her BCD (Beautification and Cleanliness Drive or janitorial work) memories. But now, think of BCDs as something that is extended throughout the whole day (from 6 AM to 4 PM). Perhaps another term for being a LOG CovCourts volunteer is the prefix "taga". Tagapulot, tagahakot, tagadistribute, etc.
This blog writer noticed that not all the Ateneans know how to segregate their trash. Sad but true. Not only are *cough*some*cough*spoiled*cough* freshmen guilty of this, but the other OLDER volunteers also commit this unworthy act. Hopefully, things will turn out better on the second day. If not, this writer will just continue to rant on this worthless blog. Like what I'm doing now.

Bisdak na Pud

Kung Ikaw Kalibangon
Kung ikaw kalibangon
Adtu lang sa baybayon
Kung ikaw walay ilo
Adtu lang sa may bato
Apan ang bato (insert word related to talinis)
Nangagisi imong lubot
Itambal ug maykrumkrum
Murag wala man diay. Ana si Karla na iyahang usa ka uncle na nabuang kay hilig mukanta ug "Baleleng" sa karaoke. Wala lang, just for trivia.

something for AISIS
How much do I hate thee?
Let me count the ways
I hate why you are so slow
Making the status bar speed like a turtle
I hate it when you display error
When I thought I'm already done with this horror
You just suck AISIS, you know you do
Just return to the old system
Idiotic AISIS
Die Die Die
Words cannot express my wrath for AISIS. I just so f*****g hate them right now. Amin ang puto AISIS!

no classes + boredom + not going home = blog entry!
Only two weeks before first semester starts. Talk about a "summer break". I don't even get to go home

Speaking of registration, what's up with AISIS? Making guinea pigs out of the students... I won't contribute to anymore ranting. If you want lots of ranting, just check http://aisissucks.blogspot.com/
I looked at the random numbers of my school mates. I think there are two incoming seniors from my school. Anyway, when they entered Ateneo, one started out in BS ME and the other one in BS AMF. During the first semester of my freshman year, I also checked their random numbers. The one who was once a BS ME student was a BS LM student. I heard she failed an accounting subject when she was in second year (Oh no!). The other one was still in BS AMF. However, when I checked his random number this time around, he is now in AB EC. Both of them did not finish the course they started out with! Could this fate befall on me? BS ME and BS AMF are somehow similar courses. If my school mates found the subjects hard... I know I'll also find them hard

Can I graduate with my course still being BS Management Engineering? Hopefully...

a closet post
For the selected few who are reading this entry, please don't tell it to others.
Andrei and I watched Shrek 3 at Eastwood last Saturday. The movie was funny, but Shrek 2 was funnier. But I loved the Snow White scene.
After watching Shrek 3, my brother and I walked around Eastwood to look for a place to eat. We decided to eat at Jack's Loft but the place was full. So we settled for Cheesecake, etc. I ordered a mango banana shake while my brother ordered a strawberry shake. Oh yeah, we also shared a slice of a cheesecake. After eating, my brother asked me about the picture he pointed at during Oliver's graduation last Thursday.
You see, pictures of the people graduating from medicine were posted on the big 2007. I asked my brother which one of the people there were the ones who he wouldn't want to be his doctor. My brother pointed to a picture of a guy and he said he chooses that person. Anyway, my brother brought that up while we were in Eastwood. He proceeded to tell me that the guy whose picture he pointed at was his ex-boyfriend. He then told me he was gay. I was stunned for a few seconds. He kept on asking me if I was okay. I told him I was and I just said that I was surprised and not surprised at the same time. He said that my mom and Dominic already knew. My dad and Oliver were the only ones in my family who didn't know.
Well, this was somehow coming. My brother had lots of girl friends and no girlfriend. He likes to shop. He knows how to choose clothes... way better than I do. He's a gentleman. I just thought he was a metrosexual with lots of girl friends. Well, there's no such thing as a straight guy who fits all those criteria I mentioned.
But anyway, I don't have anything against my brother. He's still my brother. I love him and accept him for who he is.

Ulaaaannnn....
While going to Rustan's (or was it while we were in Rustan's...?), I told Karla I wanted to intentionally get wet under the rain. What happened after was not in my plan.
After grocery shopping, we found ourselves stranded in Rustan's. Rain was pouring hard. We waited for the downpour to lessen. While waiting, Karla bought a small-sized popcorn from Holy Kettle Korn. We finished it off and the rain was still its usual self. Karla opened the 2-in-1 hopia package she bought. We almost finished the one in the 2-in-1 package when the rain decided to be kind. For a while. It showed its deadly self while we walked towards the trike station. Before we started searching for a trike, we just burst into laughter. Actually, I was the one who started laughing. What's supposed to be a rather annoying situation felt too weird and absurd. My shirt was almost wet. My pants got heavy because it was also wet. It took a while before we got to ride a trike. Two had Ateneo stickers, but they refused to let us ride. After waiting for a couple of minutes, one of them agreed. It turns out he did not want his shoes to get wet. So he drove us to our destination.
We immediately took a bath when we got back to the dorm.

a brief family reunion
Last Saturday was one of the few times that my entire family (parents+siblings+me) was together. It's only during the Christmas break that all of us get to be with each other.
MORNING
Dominic's college graduation (UP has two kinds of graduation: college grad and university grad) was from 7-11 AM (he was supposed to graduate last year... oh well...). Since each graduate was only given three tickets, I could not attend his graduation (I could still attend it, but only at the later part of the program - when they no longer check for tickets). The two tickets were for my parents while the third ticket was for Beth (his girlfriend).
I stayed overnight at my parent's room in the UP Hostel. I woke up at about 9 AM, took a bath, got dressed, and waited for my eldest brother. We proceded to go to the venue and took a seat (while searching for my parents, I noticed some people in the audience were asleep). We found my parents+Beth+Oliver seated near the door, and we also sat next to them. Some minutes later, the program was over. After the program, it was pictures galore. There were shots of Dominic+Iligan graduates, Dominic+Beth+parents (Andrei: sige... wedding picture na ni), entire family+Beth, Dominic himself, Dominic+siblings, Dominic+me+Andrei, etc.
LUNCH
After the picture taking, my family+Beth (hmm.. maybe Beth should already be included in "my family") decided to eat at Aveneto's. We ordered bottomless iced tea, pizza, seafood pasta, and pesto. For me, the lunch was sulit because all of us who ate were 7 and my mom spent less than P1200 for the entire meal. Dominic (who has an extremely loud voice) couldn't help but comment, "sulit na biya kay 7 na jud ta dayun mga P1200 lang ang gasto." Andrei couldn't help but remark, "i-announce pa jud nimo?"
AFTERNOON
When we finished eating lunch, we (still including Beth) went back to my parent's room in the UP Hostel. We rested and slept for a bit before parting ways. Beth and Dominic went to get tickets for the university grad, with Beth going to her tita's house after that. Andrei went home and then went to the gym. My parents+Oliver+me went to Megamall to grocery some stuff, buy clothing for Dominic (because he keeps on borrowing things from Andrei), buy shoes for Oliver, and buy a cake and ice cream for dinner at my aunt's house.
DINNER
My mom did not have enough money to take my aunts and their families out for dinner in a restaurant. Instead, we had dinner at my aunt's house in Mandaluyong, since she has a rooftop that is ideal for gatherings. My aunt agreed to prepare all the food, just as long as my mom will refund her for her costs. We had grilled squid, grilled ribs, sotanghon, lato (seaweed), shrimps, lumpia, chocolate mousse, and ice cream. Yum yum!
My aunt has two dogs, namely Britney and Paris. When I went to her place last February, Paris was still a small and cute puppy. I was surprised to see her larger than what I expected her to be. I know this is quite strange, but Britney is a lesbian. She wants to hump Paris (which she doesn't like at all). It is interesting to observe homosexuality within a dog.
My cousin Aiko asked my brother to teach her how to use Photoshop for creating a picture that has more than one subject in it, although it is still the same person (e.g., a picture contains 3 Angeli's doing different things). This eventually led to other lessons concerning layers and other editing tips. My aunt Bebe eagerly listened since she wanted to apply what she learned (her homecoming is near and she's sending edited pictures of herself ["bahalag sa picture lang niwang ko"]). My aunt Bebot also listened to my brother's "lecture" (aunt bebot: bisita ra jud diri ug usa ka adlaw dayun magsturya ta; andrei: bahin unsa pud te?; aunt bebot: sturya ta bahin photoshop. The latter part of the evening was devoted on Photoshop. At about 11+, we left my aunt's place and I got back to the dorm by midnight.
That pretty much sums up what happened last Saturday.
I'm the only student left among my siblings. Oliver had his university grad today (his college grad will be this May). Dominic had his university grad last Sunday. Both of them are officially part of the working class.
Here is how Andrei describes life in the workforce:
"Sauna kung naa si Mama sa Manila kay maka-save pa ko. Karon kay makagasto na hinuon ko."
//This post was finished this April 24, 2007. The date on the entry still states April 22, 2007.//

back at my base
Well, I'm back in my provincial hometown . I'm currently typing this entry at an internet cafe (for P15/hour). I've got 20 minutes left. Looks like I need to make this entry short. I arrived in Cagayan de Oro last Sunday. I only had 2 hours of sleep (or less) because of the debut of my roommate. Maybe I'll write about her debut...
Claudia's Debut
My roommate turned 18 last March 30. She celebrated her debut last March 31 at Crowne Plaza. Coincidentally, Pam's debut was also at the same day and venue. But since I'm part of the 18 candles and since Claudia is my roommate, I chose to stay longer in Claudia's party. Since I don't have any digital camera, I don't have any pictures of that event posted here. So I'm just going to write an entry about it.
Needless to say, Claudia's debut was a success. That party was definitely a Claudia party (I'm making Claudia into an adjective). The singing, the dancing, and all the elements there were definitely hers. Kudos to her events coordinator for a job well done. Also, Claudia's gown was exquisitely made.
The part after the party was also enjoyable. Us dorm people were still sitting around and talking about lots of mundane stuff and had our share of camwhoring moments. I bet other people thought we were crazy. Oh well, let them think that way. After sometime, we went to Claudia's room and continued talking. Meanwhile, Kyna just ignored us and slept. Soon, the other dorm people left. So it was only us roomies + Claudia's mom in the room. After that, all of us started to sleep. But I think only Kyna got a decent sleep. The morning after, we went to the airport to go home.
Overall, that night was clean fun. I wonder what will happen in Mina or Kyna's debut.
Oops, looks like I need to log out soon. Till next time guys! :)

final stretch
One year of college will be finally over after that Physics long test. One year of having useless English & Literature subjects (I didn't learn anything), having a relatively easy time in the NatSci subjects (as compared to what we'll experience in sophomore year), writing lots of crappy papers, wondering whether I made the right choice in choosing Ateneo, studying (hard) for Math (I merely flipped through my notes the night before a Math test in high school), living in a dormitory & being away from home for a very long time, meeting new acquaintances, and having new friends. Things can change in a day, let alone a year. I hope I still recognize myself.
Sophomore student. No longer a freshman student.
Time does fly so fast.

thoughts as the semester ends
Today marks the last regular school day of the second semester. By that, I mean the normal day where people still attend their classes and see their teachers and all of their block mates. In just a few months, I will no longer be a freshman, but a sophomore student. I will no longer have classes with my entire English block and I will no longer have any NatSci subjects. To think that one year ago, I was just thinking about entering college and what kind of life I will have in Manila. But now, I am almost through with one year of my existence in college. High school seems like a faded, distant memory...
Anyway, the regional level for the Metrobank-MTAP Math Challenge just finished today. Unfortunately, the representatives from my school finished 5th for both individual and team. They had mental block while they were in the contest... so sad. Perhaps next year is the time that our school could rule the regionals, and possibly go to the nationals (and rule it, while they're at it). I guess I'm still living out my frustrations of not finishing first place in the regionals for both individual and team (our school only finished 2nd place for both team and individual... we were so close! damn carelessness

Yesterday, I realized that I still would not reach DL status. Although I don't care that much about being DL or not, I still do get affected by it (who wouldn't?). Here is my tentative grades (based on the advisory marks and known marks):
En101 - C
Lit14 - C+
Fil12 - C
PS1 - B (i'm just assuming this)
PS2 - A
Ma21 - A
I'd get a QPI of 2.97. Assuming that my PS1 grade would miraculously be an A, my QPI would be 3.13. Supposing that case is true, I need at least one letter grade increase for each language subjects I have (which I believe is impossible, since I suck in Filipino, and I'm not good enough for my English class) to reach DL status. Oh well, screw being a DL! As long as my QPI is greater than 2.50, I can still maintain my scholarship, and that is all that is important. Being DL is only an added bonus of my hard work(?). To myself: Be content! You still have your scholarship!
To finish off this entry, here's the product of all my studying for Math (along with having an extremely nice teacher) this sem...

hating writing
Papers Galore
I got my first exemption for a final exam this semester! It's for Physics laboratory. I'm thankful for having OC and perfectionist groupmates (*cough* Flip *cough* Carol *cough*). Without them, our group would not get an A standing in lab. Speaking of exemptions, I am really hoping for an exemption in Math *crosses fingers*. I really hope to do well in the last long test. And I hope I got a nice grade in the 5th long test (which hasn't been returned). I want to get exempted!!!
Oh no... this entry is about to end. This means that I have to face MS Office! In life, everything has to end. There's nothing we can do about it. How can we reverse entropy? We can't. Wahhh! I don't understand what I'm writing about.

akong bisdak na "entry"
Unsa man akong ika-ingon diri? Na-unsa man mo A-shop uy? Giatay na kinabuhi.
Wa pa ko naligo. Wa pa nako gi-ayo akong laundry. Daghan pa ko wa gibuhat. Katok man ko uy. Tapulan pa. Astang maayo na estudyante. Wa'y tarung.
Unsa na man ni akong gipangsulat diri? Wa na ko kasabot! Bahala na uy... basta lang naa ko'y bisaya na masulat sa akong blog. Ti-aw mo ana? Sige, mao lang na. Maayong adlaw kanimo dira!

so little time, so much to do
Three weeks until the semester officially ends. Wish me luck as I embark on the end of the voyage of my first year in college.
*sigh!* I still have so many papers to attend to. Papers for Filipino, papers for English, papers for Literature.... argh! I hate papers! Then there's the group projects!

After the papers and group projects, there's the final exams... Exams I have to face: Ma21 (if by some twist of luck I get exempted, then good for me), Lit14, Ps2 (Physics lab... I hope our group has a high class standing... we might get exempted), and Ps1 (technically, it's just a long test). After the finals, there's the debut of Claudia I have to attend (and perhaps Pam's birthday party too! haha). Because of that debut, I have to wear a dress and heels (which I just dislike)! And I have to learn that piece she wanted me to play (that is if I can do it, given my limited skills).
April 1 - I go home. Relaxation time during break (sleep, sleep, sleep, hang out with friends, sleep, sleep, sleep). April 11 - I go back to Manila. Sembreak - I go home. Notice that I can't go home after summer classes? The way Ateneo organizes its schedule for registration is very sucky. They never consider the plight of provincial students. I would have quite a short break if I go home after summer class. So why bother? Air fare is expensive. I might as well stay in Manila during that time. Maybe I'll just be a part of prepcourse and orsem.
Anyway, March 31 is drawing near. Aside from it being the celebration of my roommate's debut, it will mark the one-year anniversary of my high school graduation. Ahh... the toll of time. I will forever miss high school. I'm sorry college, but I like high school more. I miss my friends, I miss my town, I miss my dog... Can't April 1 arrive faster?
My mouse is not working! It just stopped working while I was using my computer. Why is the world against me???
My, my, my... I've been blabbering on this post. Total lack of organization in this entry. Who cares? It's my blog! :P
I am so irresponsible. I should've been working on the papers I need to submit. Until next time folks!

S**t happens
To Giant: It was nice spending time with you for a year. You lived for almost 5 years with me and my brother. I hope you enjoyed your time while it lasted.
My mother said that it is time to buy me a new laptop. Although I like having a new laptop, I know buying it would cause a dent in our budget (which I don't like). Of all the days to have your CPU destroyed.... It's so frustrating

Well, here I am typing away at a computer unit in Rizal Library... I'd guess I'll be spending the next couple of days in the lib... typing away at my papers, surfing the net, and all. Shit happens. Why now?!

bored
Anyway, I'm just bored today and that's why I'm writing this post. It's Thursday today... a few hours later, it will be Friday. The hands of the clock never stops moving. It's sad. It's depressing.

Viva Single's Awareness Day!
Valentine's Day or Single's Awareness Day is fast approaching. To make my proposal come true (please refer to previous entry), I suggest that the idea of Valentine's Day should be scrapped, and I propose that Single's Awareness Day should be the only event celebrated on February 14 (aside from birthdays, anniversaries, and the like). With the joy and awareness of being single, people will no longer consider a relationship that concerns having children. Everyone will live life to the fullest without having any younger person to think of. It would be such a hassle to have kids, and Single's Awareness Day might give the people the chance to realize this important fact. Consequently, the people will decide to stay single and not have kids. What about those who yearn to be in a close relationship with someone, and where that someone is capable of procreating with them? I still do not have any plans on how to address those people. But in due time, I will come up with something. So far, the only idea I have come up is that those people should not reproduce. If they want to do recreational activities, then they should do so with the necessary precautions.
Anyway, the idea of implementing Single's Awareness Day as the only event for February 14 is only a step in realizing my dream of a Utopian society. I believe there will come a time when there won't be a future generation, and we will have all the resources to ourselves. Then we would no longer have to worry on how we will save the earth because we are the only ones left in earth. Screw the environmentalists! They are only delaying the ticking time bomb of the earth's destruction. That day of destruction will come, whether we like it or not. We might as well hasten that day's coming. And for the meantime, only WE should enjoy all the benefits of the earth to ourselves.

a modest proposal for a doomed planet
Ang sabaw ko na... wahaha! Be aware that I am not serious about what I am writing. I am somehow following the style of Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal"
The world is doomed. Look around you, and see the degradation of our surroundings. Global warming is taking its toll on the environment. The climate is changing at a faster pace. Things that were once improbable is now happening. It is now normal for a country to experience 3 or more terribly devastating typhoons in one year. The scenario of Day After Tomorrow, though exaggerated, is not far away.
Ecosystems in the ocean are at the brink of disaster. Mankind's growing population, along with the appetite of its people is contributing to this disaster. By 2048, seafood as we know it will be gone.
Our world is in a sad fate. The future generation will have to endure a more polluted and doomed place. Therefore, so as not to contribute to the increasing doomness of the planet, I propose that people should not procreate! Let the human race die. Let no child suffer the coming end of this world. The planet is doomed anyway, why agonize these children? To show my sincerity, I will lead by example! I will take a vow of chastity and I will cease to be a burden to the entire world. I am appealing to everyone to do the same! Do not marry! Do not reproduce!
It is only us that will enjoy the resources of this planet! Forget the future generation because there will be NO future generation. Do you understand my plan? It is brilliant! This is a better solution rather than worrying about what will happen to the planet. We no longer have to conserve energy because only our generation will have all the energy. Cut down the trees! Do not recycle! Use fossil fuel for your cars! Kill all those endangered species! With my plan, we will exponentially increase the planet's rate of killing itself. But we will all die first before the planet is entirely destroyed! And what will be left is a desolate planet. Yet who cares? No one is left to worry about it. No one is left to care for Earth.
