Sembreak so far:
- visited (and will still visit) my high school campus
- finished season 1 of "How I Met YOur Mother"
- finished watching the Fushigi Yugi series (52 episodes!)
- watched Disturbia
- watched anything on TV (even a documentary about Atlantis O_o)
- read a tenth of Don Quixote
- swam at the local pool with high school friends
- went to the dentist for my teeth
- mindlessly surfed the internet
- successfully enlisted
- SLEEPING whenever I want to sleep
- eating home-cooked meals

Things coming up:
- Tinago Falls outing (?)
- more bonding with high school friends
- Kyna's debut
- more sleeping
- more eating


I know it's boring in Iligan.  It has no malls, coffee shops or even McDonald's (but hey, we have Jollibee).  Still, nothing beats the comfort of home.  I don't want to return to the fast-paced life of Manila!

finally first semester ends

The shelves of my rommates are covered with newspapers and manila paper.  Two of the beds are stripped off their bedsheets.  Two luggages are lying on the floor (one is mine and one is Karla's).  After 1 1/2 years living with these weirdos I call roommates, I am going to miss them when I go home for about 3 weeks (where I won't be Multiply-ing as much because of the slow internet connection at home).

As much as I hated the first semester, there will be some things that I'll miss and memories that I'll reminisce (the F in LT1 of Acc20; spraining my ankle and using crutches; the quirks and the evil witch laugh of Theo teacher; lunch at Matteo steps; useless Ma22 teacher... nah! not really; roommates bonding; surprise 18th birthday party; and many more).

Well, it's finally break time for me.  A well-deserved rest

Kenn Costales: i just want to see my results in my long exams for Math20.
Ray Melton: It's Hell week for both of us.  Catch me when you can.
Kenn Costales: okay sir. hopefully, i'll see you in school tomorrow morning.

Ray Melton: Wait, what math class are you in?
Kenn Costales: math20- calculus for economists (Monday till Friday)
Kenn Costales: Section B.
Ray Melton: This is Raymond Melton from the States.  I have hundreds of students and can't always remember who's who.
Ray Melton: I'm lucky to tell my wife from Darna. No joke.
Kenn Costales: hahaha  i completely understand sir. sorry i did not identify myself properly a while ago.

Ray Melton: Math20 has to be the most tiring class you can possibly take.  It would be easier to be an America Marine.  Why not just be MacArthur?
Ray Melton: And I got to deal with the Math Dept, and being the Dean, and deal with my Filipina wife.
Ray Melton: I'd rather be MacArthur,.
Kenn Costales: well, you chose that path sir, and those are the things you have to face.
Kenn Costales: those are the consequences of the decisions you made in the past sir...
Ray Melton: Listen up pal, sometimes life sucks, and sometimes life sucks shit, but every once in a while life doesn't suck quite so bad.  Deal with it soldier.
Ray Melton: Deal with our math class.
Kenn Costales: i am dealing with it; and i'm loving it. I love math, after all.

last blog post before finals

To any reader: What will follow is a rambling of thoughts.  Apologies for the lack of organization.

I will not blog after this entry (only after finals).  I will not spend as much time in Multiply in preparation for the finals.  Maybe I should stay at my mom's place so I won't have access to the internet.

Wow.  This week went by fast.  Tomorrow's make-up class in Accounting is going to be the last actual class for this semester.

And yet... I don't feel sentimental about this semester.  Screw this semester!  I feel this semester (so far) has the worst combination of teachers.  Good thing Chinese and Sci10 are not demanding subjects.  But the others?  Dream on!  I am supposed to have 15 units this semester.  Instead, it feels more like 18 units because I sit in de Lara's Ma22 class (because Melton doesn't lecture, he just solves problems on the board).  I don't even know if I'll get an A in Ma22 because Melton is very unpredictable.  Theo is not an easy core subject.  And sometimes, you need to BS and write in a manner the prof prefers for Theo.  Accounting has its ups and downs.  If it weren't for that idiotic first long test (I screwed up badly in this one), I would've gotten a better standing in this subject.  I know I'm going to have my lowest QPI in this semester.  I can see it coming.

On the bright side, I feel that I can maintain my QPI requirement of 2.50.  So yay!  I can still study here.  Haha.

Finals week left.  Ma22 on Wednesday (I hope it will be easy and that Melton will not falter in checking).  Th121 and Acc20 on Thursday (both in Escaler Hall... how happy).  I want October 12 to arrive!  And then I leave for Iligan this October 14   Home... where I have access to real food.

Claudia and I were thinking of a ME version for "What do you do with a BA in English" song in Avenue Q.  Can you suggest additional lines?  Here is what we've come up so far:

What do you do with a BS in ME?
What is my life going to be?
Four years, three summers
And plenty of numbers
...

In the original song, what follows after is "Have earned me this useless degree".  But I think "useless" is not appropriate for the ME version.  Still thinking of a two-syllable adjective to use...  I want to finish the "What do you do with a BS in ME" song.  Care to help?
